Manchester United supporters have been handed another dose of football banter after KCA University shared a tongue-in-cheek memo advising students to reconsider supporting the struggling English club following their humiliating 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League.
Manchester United fans may need more than match highlights to recover from their latest European disappointment.
KCA University has joined the football banter, jokingly advising students to reconsider their loyalty to Manchester United to protect their mental well-being, sleep patterns and general happiness.
The humorous notice, dated Wednesday, October 21, warned students against adding football-related heartbreak to the pressures of university life, including assignments, Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), graduation clearance and academic deadlines.
“This light-hearted advisory aims to protect students from unnecessary emotional damage, weekend disappointments and Monday-morning heartbreaks,” the memo stated.
It added that supporting Manchester United was an unnecessary burden for students already dealing with academic pressure.
“Adding Manchester United to the list is highly discouraged!” the notice read.
The document identified its sender as the university’s “Office of the University (Unofficial),” making it a joke rather than a confirmed official university directive.
Como Humiliate Manchester United 4-1
The university’s playful warning came after Como produced a stunning performance to defeat Manchester United 4-1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Argentine attacking midfielder Nico Paz was the star of the night, scoring twice and assisting another goal as Como dominated the visitors.
Paz opened the scoring inside two minutes with a superb finish before setting up Anastasios Douvikas, who doubled Como’s lead in the 49th minute.
The Argentine then struck again in the 57th minute, leaving United struggling to recover from the hosts’ relentless attacking pressure.
Jacobo Ramón added Como’s fourth in the 76th minute with a header, capping a memorable evening for the Italian side.
Manchester United managed a late consolation through Joshua Zirkzee in stoppage time, but the goal did little to change the outcome.
‘Choose Joy, Choose KCAU’
Rather than endure the emotional roller coaster of supporting Manchester United, the mock memo encouraged students to redirect their loyalty towards KCA University’s own sporting teams.
The notice cheekily claimed that the university teams performed better than the English club, adding to the humour surrounding United’s difficult night in Italy.
“Your mental health, peace of mind and academic success matter. Choose joy. Choose KCAU. Choose what works!” the message stated.
The joke resonated with familiar football rivalries, where fans of rival clubs often seize the opportunity to tease Manchester United supporters after disappointing results.
For United fans, however, the defeat to Como was more than just a social media punchline. It was another difficult night for a team struggling to produce consistent performances.
Football, Fandom and Monday-Morning Heartbreak
Football supporters often describe their relationship with their clubs as an emotional investment, celebrating victories and enduring painful defeats together.
KCA’s joke tapped into that experience, suggesting that university students already have enough pressure without allowing their favourite football teams to make their weeks even more difficult.
Whether Manchester United fans will abandon their beloved red jerseys is another matter entirely. Football loyalty is rarely surrendered after a single defeat, no matter how embarrassing.
But after Como’s 4-1 victory, the university’s message delivered a final cheeky reminder to the club’s supporters: your CATs are already difficult enough—why add Manchester United to the stress?
