Kenya to Host Global Energy Conference as Africa Seeks Funding for Green Industrial Growth.

More than 1,500 delegates from over 80 countries are expected in Naivasha for the third KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference, focusing on renewable energy investment, financing and industrial development.

Kenya is set to host an international energy conference in November, bringing together investors, financiers, utilities and energy producers to explore ways of turning Africa’s renewable energy potential into operational projects and industrial growth.

The third KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference will take place from November 24 to 27, 2026, in Olkaria, Naivasha, with organisers expecting more than 1,500 participants from over 80 countries.

Convened by the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), the gathering aims to connect project developers with institutions that finance, regulate and purchase electricity.

The conference comes as African countries seek investment and partnerships to expand clean energy generation, strengthen electricity supply and support industrialisation.

Investors and Financial Institutions Expected in Naivasha

Organisers are targeting more than 200 investors, 40 financing institutions, 100 utilities and power producers, and 100 exhibitors.

The mix of participants is intended to create opportunities for energy companies and project developers to engage potential financiers, identify partners and explore investment opportunities.

Access to affordable financing remains a major consideration for renewable energy projects, which can require substantial upfront investment in infrastructure, equipment and transmission networks.

Bringing investors and developers together could help advance discussions on how to fund projects and move them from planning to implementation.

KenGen Conference Focuses on Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution

The conference will be held under the theme “Powering Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution.”

The theme places renewable energy at the centre of discussions about Africa’s industrial future, including how reliable electricity can support manufacturing, businesses and economic development.

Africa has significant renewable energy resources, including geothermal, solar, wind and hydropower. However, converting that potential into dependable electricity supply requires investment, technical expertise, supporting infrastructure and effective regulation.

Kenya’s geothermal sector, particularly around Olkaria, provides a setting for discussions on how renewable energy can contribute to electricity generation and wider economic activity.

Why the Conference Matters to Kenya

Hosting the gathering offers Kenya an opportunity to showcase its energy sector and engage international partners on renewable energy investment.

For KenGen, the conference provides a platform to bring together stakeholders involved in energy development and discuss opportunities for collaboration across the continent.

The discussions are also expected to address the role of financing institutions, power producers and utilities in expanding renewable energy infrastructure.

For African economies, the broader challenge is ensuring that clean energy investment translates into reliable electricity, industrial expansion and improved access to power.

As delegates gather in Naivasha from November 24 to 27, the focus will be on building partnerships and identifying financing pathways that can help turn Africa’s renewable energy ambitions into operating projects.

The impact of the conference will ultimately depend on whether discussions lead to concrete partnerships, investment commitments and projects that progress beyond the planning stage.
